Lutterworth College

College news 15th December 2017 - last one of Autumn term!

End of term message

It certainly has been a busy Autumn term with many events and reasons to celebrate including our first term as an all through 11-19 school with students in all year groups, being recognised as the highest attaining school in Leicestershire, a new Parents Evening System, an OFSTED inspection, a snow day (and a sheet ice day), record numbers of Year 7 & Sixth Form applications to the College, Awards Evenings for our ex Year 11 & 13. Friends of Lutterworth College fundraising, and much more – all on top of a very busy curriculum of teaching & learning.

We are looking forward to 2018 and all the opportunities it will bring us. We get cracking straight away with very important Pre-Public Examinations for Year 11 & Year 13 Students in January; and these lead us towards the formal Public Examinations in the summer term.

One of our main priorities for the new year will be to engage with our community of parents further to look at ways in all stakeholders can support the school in improving its facilities. We have an extremely exciting project called ‘Canopy Gardens’ which is all about providing an outside sheltered space for students at break and lunchtime to relax and unwind before the next part of their day. The break and lunchtime experience is really important to the learning day; and I would like to engage with students, staff and parents about how we can best improve this experience in what are challenging financial times for all schools.

I'd like to thank all parents, staff and students for your support this term.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year

Nick Summers - Headteacher

Shoe Box Appeal 2017

Students at Lutterworth College collected an amazing 125 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child in November. The boxes contained small toys, stationery, toiletries and sweets.

We received the following message from Penny Ross at the organisation this week:

“Thought you would like to know that your shoeboxes are on their way to Ukraine and Romania. Thank you for all the joy you will bring to the children who receive them and to their families. Wishing you a joyous and peaceful Christmas and a very happy new year. Hope to see you next year.”

A huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this worthwhile appeal, particularly Mrs Alderman who co-ordinated the collection in the college.
