apprenticeship hints tips for parents carers v2.pdf
Whilst they can accept applications from anyone age 16 and over, it would be desirable to have a driving license so this opportunity might be more suited to Year 13 students, rather than post GCSE. The reason for this is that the apprenticeship is being delivered through Loughborough College so students MUST be able to get to Loughborough one day a week for 12 consecutive weeks. Furthermore, as students develop in the role they might have to visit the waste depot on the outskirts of Market Harborough. However, HDC would welcome applications from anyone who is genuinely interested in the role.
The successful apprentice will be working in the Council Offices in Market Harborough within a small team in an administrative role. They will be dealing with customers, contractors, our and other members of the public as well as colleagues from across the Council. The role is very varied, so as well as dealing with issues they face on a daily basis, one day they might be speaking to a contractor about a mattress dumped in a country lane and the next day talking to a new business owner about paying for a trade waste collection. They will also get involved in projects such as incorporating the new food waste collections that every council has to provide from next year. Working in this team, the apprentice will gain knowledge on how to effectively support the management of contracts and projects and get support in developing the necessary skills for this. Additionally, the apprentice will have the opportunity to gain experience in and knowledge of the full range of activities which are provided by the wider team.
Whilst their skills and knowledge training is provided by Loughborough College, they will also have an online portfolio they have to update from the on the job training they undertake with HDC and they will get diarised visits from a dedicated trainer or assessor that will visit them in work.
The salary is £22,183 per annum with 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays. Working hours are 37 hours per week which are Monday to Friday on an 18 month, fixed term contract. Applicants need 5 x GCSE's Grade 4 or equivalent and must include Maths and English.
The link to the vacancy is below where contact details can also be found. The vacancy is being managed through Loughborough College on HDC's behalf but formal interviews will be held by HDC in their Market Harborough offices.

CRS are looking to take on one or two Apprentices this year. They are a fast growing Commercial Insurance Broker based in Lutterworth. Two of their team members have recently successfully passed their Apprenticeships with them, gaining their Certificate in Insurance along the way and it has proven to be extremely successful. They have welcomed them both in to new roles since completing the scheme to allow them to further their careers in insurance. There are various avenues available to students following completion of the Apprenticeship, so it’s a great opportunity.
An overview of what would be included as part of the programme can be seen below. Students would receive daily on the job support internally from the CRS team and Aviva would provide the majority of the training including 121 coaching sessions both face to face and remotely, workshops & online training. The key competencies include gaining insurance market knowledge, compliance, commercial awareness & communication skills.
