Key Stage 4 Science 2016-7

GCSE Double Science Year 10

The GCSE Combined science course (AQA Trilogy) course is covered over 2 years of study with students sitting external exams at the end of year 11.

The There are six papers: two biology, two chemistry and two physics. Each of the papers will assess knowledge and understanding from distinct topic areas.

 

   

Students study a range of Biological, Chemical and Physics concepts with practical science at the core of all lessons to develop the skill of working scientifically to build a deep understanding of science with our students. This includes the development of scientific thinking, Experimental skills and strategies, Analysis and Evaluation; and the development of Scientific vocabulary

BIOLOGY Yr11 (last year of specification)

The 21 Centaury Biology course allows students to:

  • develop interest in, and enthusiasm for, biology
  • develop a critical approach to scientific evidence and methods
  • acquire and apply skills, knowledge and understanding of how science works and its essential role in society
  • acquire scientific skills, knowledge and understanding necessary for progression to further learning.

Double science Yr 11

The 21st Century Additional science course allows students to develop a deeper understanding of basic scientific ideas. The course focuses on scientific explanations and models, and gives students an insight into how scientists develop scientific understanding of themselves and the world they inhabit.
