Admissions Policy Consultation
Lutterworth College is seeking your views on the changes proposed below. Our consultation will run for 6 weeks from December 8th 2023 to January 19th 2024. The admissions policy and arrangements must then be determined by the governors by the 28th February and then published on our website by 15th March.
This policy will operate for entry September 2025. It will also apply to all mid-term admissions for the school year 2025/26 and for subsequent years until further notice.
Lutterworth College is an inclusive, Church of England secondary school and Sixth Form with a rich history of educating the young people of Lutterworth since 1880. We pride ourselves on offering a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by exceptional pastoral care, ensuring an all-through education that enables every student at our school to learn, flourish and succeed.
We are proposing to amend the admissions policy to reflect the community and families that we serve. There are two proposed amendments.
- Criteria change: Remove the catchment feeder primary school criterion.
- Change and amend the catchment area map.
Rationale for change 1:
Criteria currently the college names 46 catchment area primary schools. Children attending these primary schools receive admission priority over children who do not. Increasingly, there are cases where South Leicestershire children are declined a place as they do not attend a named primary school. As an inclusive, Church of England secondary school, we do not want to disadvantage children based on their primary school of choice. Therefore, we are proposing to remove the catchment feeder criterion from our oversubscription criteria.
Lutterworth College will continue to work with the primary schools where we have the greatest draw from.
Rationale for change 2:
The Lutterworth College Catchment Area Map does not reflect the community and families that we serve as a South Leicestershire secondary school. We propose to amend the boundaries to have a clear and accurate picture where the college admits most of its students.
